Keep Power Reliable
to support tomorrow's energy needs
More new businesses are opening, communities are expanding, and more jobs are being created across the state. To keep growing, Ohio needs enough reliable electricity to power homes, farms, schools, hospitals, and businesses every day.
The Cardinal Power Plant in Brilliant, Ohio helps provide electricity to about 1 million Ohioans served by rural electric cooperatives.
Right now, a critical unit of the Cardinal Power Plant is being forced to close at the end of 2028, and it is not clear what will replace the power it provides. If this unit closes, it could affect Ohio's electric reliability and impact local jobs and tax revenue.
