Your Power Bill Shouldn’t Subsidize For-Profit Industry

North Carolina electric cooperative members work hard to manage their monthly bills. They deserve energy policies that prioritize affordability, reliability and fairness.

Right now, an outdated state mandate tied to swine waste energy is forcing co-op members to shoulder unnecessary costs. This isn’t about opposing farmers or agriculture. It’s about whether North Carolinians who pay their own power bills should be required to subsidize special treatment for a for-profit industry.

The state should not pick winners and losers with your electric bill. Sending a letter takes two minutes and tells your representatives that North Carolina should put co-op members first and support a fair legislative solution.
